Arriving in Osaka from Sapporo yesterday afternoon was like arriving on another planet: baking hot and humid, absolutely heaving, a far higher number of foreigners (not just Westerners but Chinese and Korean), and far more tourist-oriented: there were over 11 million visitors to Osaka last year.
